Phoenix and Chronic Disease Management fees

Phoenix - Chronic Disease Management
Phoenix provides several tools to assist you in identifying and billing your chronic disease management patients.

1  Print a report looking for a disease diagnosis.

Go to Custom Report in the Phoenix Menu.
Select ODiagnosis.rpt from the report list
The billing module now automatically notifies the billing clerk when a CDM fee has been billed within one calendar year

2  CDM Fee Alerts

When you are billing a patient you will be alerted to a previously billed yearly CDM fee by the name being highlighted in light purple when you select the patient. This will mean that you may not be entitled to bill the patient for a visit fee if you or a member of your group have previously billed an option 2 yearly management fee.

3  Multiple ICD9 Codes

You can bill 3 ICD9 codes in Phoenix ( in addition to the new composite letter ICD9 codes) to facilitate the justification for the CDM fees. The additional diagnosis codes are entered just after the initial ICD9 code. Download and install the latest version of Phoenix (208b) to take advantage of this feature.
Phone Technical Support for assistance in downloading.

4  Determining CDM Status

The Phoenix profile now has a CDM Status button on the Billing History tab which displays a history of the billings with the qualifying ICD9 codes. Qualifying ICD9 codes are displayed in ordinary fonts. Non-qualifying codes are in italics. You will be able to quickly assess if the patient is eligible for CDM billing. By looking at the number of services in a year, you can quickly assess if the patient should be billed via option 1 or option 2

As MSP adds or eliminates annual fees and codes, we have included these codes in the INI file so that you can make the changes as they are announced, rather than waiting for program updates.

5  Fee Code updates

Fee Code updates can be quickly installed from the MSP website by using the MSPonWeb utility.

We will continue to work to enhance your ability to bill these fees. Bear in mind, that while it would be desirable to scan and present the existing billing information for previously existing codes and fees, this would slow down patient loading and switching between patients. Care has to be taken to ensure that billing remains quick and efficient.
